Now that I can finally breathe after seeing Force Awakens, I want to tell you about a cause that a good friend of mine is doing. (If you haven’t seen it yet, Go! It’s amazing!)
James is huge Star Wars fan and came up with an idea to wear a different item every day for 2016. Not only that, he is turning this into a walkathon-style fundraiser for a worthy group called Collateral Repair Project, a non-profit organization that helps urban refugees. This helps with emergency aid, education, and building in Amman, Jordan.
Every day he will wear a different item of Star Wars item for as long as he can without stopping. He is also willing to wear something that you can send him which if you think about, you can get started on those epic Star Wars ugly sweaters. Or just get as creative as you can get. He will also be posting updates every day and weekly summaries on the “Wear Star Wars Every Day” page on Facebook.
You will have the option to donate a flat amount or make a per-day pledge. You can also find more information regarding this cause on his GoFundMe page.
I think this is such a great idea and I love how our Geek culture is always trying to find a way to give back and tie it in with something that they love.
Please share and spread the news so we can get as many pledges possible! I’m really excited to see the results!
On another note, to celebrate 2,000 followers on Facebook, I will be posting about a giveaway on Wednesday to celebrate and show my gratitude. I will also be coordinating with Track 36 Studios and trust me when I say, this is going to be one you won’t want to miss. I won’t divulge everything that is part of the giveaway at first because I will be adding more things over time. And sometimes it’s just SO MUCH FUN to add surprises.
Now that things are more settled, I will be posting updates, quirks, memes, videos, and whatever else tickles my fancy. It feels so good to get back into writing again.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
